Pooled Development Funds (PDF) Program

Program Update and Status

The Pooled Development Fund (PDF) program was closed to new registrations in June 2007.

On the 17 February 2013 as part of the Industry Innovation Statement, the Australian Government’s, Venture Australia initiative announced that the PDF program will be phased out over a number of years in consultation with stakeholders.

The Department of Innovation, Industry, Climate Change, Science, Research and Tertiary Education is currently undertaking a consultation process with all the PDFs and is seeking written submissions by 31 May 2013 on the impact of the Government’s decision to close the PDF program.

Since the PDF program’s introduction in July 1992, $993 million has been raised by PDFs and $828 million of this capital has been invested into 747 Australian companies. During 2011-12 there were 38 registered PDFs and these collectively raised $8.3 million for new investments.

There are currently 31 registered PDFs.
