Important points
Annual registration of R&D activities with Innovation Australia is a prerequisite for claiming any element of the tax concession in a company’s tax return.
Registration applications must be lodged annually within ten months after the end of the company’s income year.
The R&D Tax Concession, registration application form is available at a single entry point via the R&D Tax Concession Online Gateway.
The form is a downloadable, editable, and electronically submittable PDF application for annual registration of R&D activities (section 39J) and allows customers to select the income year of the form.
A short Help Guide is available inside the Gateway along with comprehensive application notes that provide assistance with accessing, navigating and printing the form.
The downloadable PDF form uses Adobe Acrobat Reader technology. For customers who intend to submit electronically using the Adobe PDF form, further information on supported Adobe Acrobat Reader versions is available at the R&D Tax Concession Online Gateway.
For assistance completing the application form, please refer to the
Application Notes [PDF 285KB].
Important: Customers who have registered using the online form prior to 1 July 2007 are reminded that due to enhanced security arrangements they must apply for a new username and password via the Gateway in order to access and lodge their applications.
Once completed, the application form can be submitted electronically (including attachments) to AusIndustry. If you have difficulty accessing or completing the form, please contact the AusIndustry Hotline on 13 28 46.
In accordance with AusIndustry's published Customer Service Charter, applicants submitting their registrations electronically can expect their applications to be processed within 10 working days.
