LPG Vehicle Scheme (LPGVS)

The LPG Vehicle Scheme closes on 30 June 2014
This means that applicants must complete LPG conversions or purchase new vehicles with LPG prior to first registration on or before 30 June 2014.
As a registered vehicle owner you are entitled to apply for an LPG Vehicle Scheme grant up to 12 months after the date of the LPG conversion or new LPG vehicle purchase. As the Scheme closes on 30 June 2014, applicants are encouraged to submit claims as soon as possible following the LPG conversion or purchase of a new LPG vehicle.
The LPG Vehicle Scheme provides grants for the LPG conversion of a registered motor vehicle or the purchase of a new vehicle fitted with LPG prior to first registration, subject to eligibility criteria.
The Program Delegate can declare a waiver to LPG Vehicle Scheme - Claiming a Second Grant rule in response to the Australian disaster relief arrangements. For more information please contact the AusIndustry hotline on 13 28 46.
Since 1 July 2011 the LPG Vehicle Scheme has been capped at 25,000 eligible claims paid in each financial year, for the duration of the scheme to 30 June 2014.
Should the 25,000 cap be reached before the end of a financial year, application processing will continue and eligible claims will be paid in the following financial year. Grant amounts for eligible applications will be determined from the date of vehicle LPG conversion or new LPG vehicle purchase.

There are two different grants available, subject to meeting all eligibility criteria:
- $1,000 for the LPG conversion of a used, registered vehicle completed between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2014; or
- $2,000 for the purchase of a new vehicle fitted with LPG before first registration, completed by 30 June 2014. This includes vehicles fitted with LPG at the time of manufacture, and vehicles fitted with LPG after manufacture but before first registration. Note: For the purpose of the LPG Vehicle Scheme, a demonstrator vehicle is not regarded as a new vehicle.
