Program status

Clean Technology Program Closure:

Alert / Note

The Australian Government, as part of the commitment to deliver savings by abolishing the Carbon Tax, announced its intention to discontinue funding for the Clean Technology Program.   This includes the three program components: the Clean Technology Investment Program, the Clean Technology Food and Foundries Investment Program, and the Clean Technology Innovation Program (Media Release: Our Plan to get the Budget under Control, 28 August 2013).  The Programs are now closed to new applications.  AusIndustry has contacted all applicants directly with advice on the status of their application.  For further information, please contact the AusIndustry hotline on 13 28 46.

The Direct Action plan will give businesses and other entities opportunities to reduce their emissions.  An Emissions Reduction Fund will be established to support business and industry to reduce emissions and improve the environment.  On 16 October 2013, the government released Terms of Reference to assist interested parties in making submissions on the design of the Fund. The Terms of Reference are available on the Department of Environment’s website:

Submissions will inform the development of a Green Paper setting out the government’s preferred options for design of the Fund. Consultation on the Green Paper will commence in December 2013. A White Paper outlining the final design of the Fund will be released in early in 2014.

The Clean Technology Investment Program is a merit-based grants program to support Australian manufacturers to maintain competitiveness in a carbon constrained economy. This program provides grants for investments in energy efficient capital equipment and low emission technologies, processes and products.
