Innovation Australia (amalgamating the IR&D and VCR Boards) is an independent statutory body invested by the Government to oversight the administration of its innovation and venture capital programs. Legislation for the establishment of the new Board was passed through the Senate on 20 September 2007, and came into effect on 27 September 2007 as proclaimed by the Governor-General.

Prior to the establishment of Innovation Australia, responsibility for the administration of the Government's innovation and venture capital programs (excluding tax based venture capital programs) rested with the IR&D Board. Below are links to IR&D Board Annual Reports.
Prior to the establishment of Innovation Australia, responsibility for the administration of the Government's tax based venture capital programs (including Pooled Development Funds, Venture Capital Limited Partnerships and Early Stage Venture Capital Limited Partnerships) rested with the VCR Board.
