Program Status: Program Closed.
Description: The purpose of the Ethanol Distribution Program (EDP) was to increase the number of service stations selling 10 per cent ethanol blended petrol (E10) and increase the volume of E10 sold and encouraged the sale of E10 at a lower price than regular unleaded petrol.
The program provided grants of up to $20,000 for Australian retail service stations to reduce the cost of installing or converting infrastructure to supply E10.
There were two types of grants:
• an Infrastructure Upgrade Grant of up to $10,000 for a retail service station that had upgraded existing equipment or installed new equipment to provide for the sale of E10. The upgrade completion date had to be between 1 October 2006 and 31 March 2008
• a further Sales Target Grant of up to $10,000 for a retail service station that received the Infrastructure Upgrade Grant and achieved an E10 sales target within 12 months of its the upgrade completion date.
Contact: From 1 July 2009, the Ethanol Distribution Program is administered by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism (RET). For further information on the EDP, go to the RET website.
